Destination Weddings & Honeymoons in Ireland

Destination Weddings & Honeymoons in Ireland

July 9, 2015 By Brigid Horne-Nestor Leave a Comment

Have you been dreaming of a wedding or honeymoon in Ireland?  To legally marry in Ireland, you must apply for a license 3 months before your wedding date, and you both must appear in person at the Civil Registration office in the county where you will marry to present the appropriate documentation 5 days before the wedding.  For the convenience of their guests, many couples choose to marry on the grounds of a hotel or resort.  Bunratty Castle Hotel is located just minutes from Shannon Airport on the west coast of Ireland in County Clare.

Gorgeous photography backgrounds surround the grounds of this resort just steps away from the 15th century Bunratty Castle.  In addition to floor length linens, this venue provides complimentary chair covers, personalized menus, flowers and candles on each guest table.

County Clare is known for nature, tradition, and hospitality.  The West of Clare is probably best known as being home to the Cliffs of Moher, but it also offers many unspoiled spots off the beaten track!

Natural elements shape the landscape all along the Wild Atlantic Way from the dramatic cliff scenery and unique limestone landscape of the Burren to the equally impressive scenery extending from Kilkee to Loop Head.

West Clare is also where traditional Irish music has its home.  Music is everywhere – you’ll find it at one of the many festivals as well as in the live sessions in the traditional pubs throughout the County, from Doolin in the North to Kilrush in the South.

For couples who are interested in Northern Ireland, Portrush in County Antrim is also filled with stunning scenery.  This area is home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful beaches providing opportunities for surfing, paddle boarding, coasteering, horse riding, kayaking, walking, swimming and sand castle building.

Portrush and the Causeway Coast Area is minutes away from the World Heritage site of the Giant’s Causeway, tours of the oldest Whiskey Distillery in the world (Old Bushmills Distillery) and several scenic filming locations for the epic Game of Thrones series.  The Adelphi Portrush is a wonderful place to stay while visiting this part of Ireland.

Whether you want to marry in Ireland or just have your honeymoon there, contact the wedding planning and wedding travel experts at i-do Weddings & Events.  We are ready to help you create lasting memories on the Emerald Isle.
